Q: How could I get a grant for my new business, I've heard about start-up grants but I've never received one? Where could I get info on this?

There is a feature on the smallbusiness website here on obtaining grants. The process is complicated but hopefully this article should make it a little clearer. Also, you may find the Top 10 Tips for raising finance pretty useful, click here. Another source of information is the the J4B website, designed to help small businesses obtain grants, or the businesslink, Finance and Grants website. There is a grant finder which you can work through. Many grants are specific to certain industry sectors or regions. You can locate the nearest Business Link office through the businesslink.gov website. The ICAEW cannot accept any responsibility for the answers to the smallbusiness.co.uk website. By their nature the questions do not give sufficiently precise and full information to give a personal response. The response is general guidance including where the enquirer might find further and fuller information of relevance to the current enquiry.

I returned to work after a long illness on 3rd Jan. There was a limited amount of Government aid which I received. There is some help with tax credits which is more good news. As for obtaining grants for start up businesses though I have found it time consuming and unproductive. I would be delighted to convinced otherwise.
