As South America's most populous country (fifth largest in the world) with an economy that is the world's seventh largest by nominal GDP and eighth largest by purchasing power parity, it is a large market with a lot of opportunities.

1. Gringoes.com - A website run by foreigners in Sao Paulo containing articles on the realities of doing business in Brazil.

2. British Business in Brazil - Our sister publication Growth Business UK meets British entrepreneurs successfully operating in the country and lifts the lid on some of the difficulties they have encountered while there.

3. Brazilian Chamber of Commerce in Great Britain - Founded in 1942, the organisation offers conferences, seminars and business meetings involving Ministers of State, Ambassadors, Chief Executives of leading companies and Banks, both from Brazil and the UK, with discounts and special offers for members.

4. British Chamber of Commerce in Brazil - A non-profit association whose aim is to further British-Brazilian relations and develop business opportunities. Britcham has offices in Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul.

5. UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) in Brazil - The British Embassy's specialist business section with news and contacts for the commercial team and offices throughout the country.

6. Feiras Brasil - The largest web portal for trade fairs in Brazil. Covers all sectors but, as at time of writing, is only available in Portuguese.

1. BR$cope - Consultancy and market research for foreign companies wishing to explore opportunities in Brazil.

2. OpesMundiConsultancy firm that specialises in finding commercial partners and developing international projects for its clients.

3. GCE Consultoria - São Paulo based business consulting firm that offers services focused on SMEs and encompassing operations start-ups in Brazil.

4. Whitefield International - British firm which has an office in Sao Paolo that offers foreign direct investment, corporate location and international trade services.
