If I’m advertising a vacancy is it ok to interview and appoint someone to that position before the closing date?

I would advise against it, as there is the potential of discrimination/equal opportunities issues (for example, should someone not be offered the opportunity to apply and therefore fail to be selected, they could claim it was due to a disability or their gender/race etc...)

If there is a business need to appoint immediately, I would advise to have documented evidence of this so that you can defend any potential claims.
