Choosing the right mobile phone provider
Jan 23 2008
Lots of people are working in the same way as you – on the move. This means that colleagues and clients can always get through to you, but also reduces downtime whilst you’re travelling.
There is a range of comparison sites on the web that compare mobile tariffs, but these are generally designed for consumer users. As a business user, you have different requirements and there are different services and packages designed just for you.
What you need to do is look at the make-up of your monthly bill to see where you spend the most, for example, do you predominantly call mobile numbers; do you make a lot of international calls to specific international destinations? By doing this, you can look at the packages that best suit your needs.
One new development that could be useful for you is mobile VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), which allows you to make calls over wireless internet when you’re in a Wi-Fi hotspot – whether that’s your office, café or on the move. This means that you can take advantage of capped calling to landlines, mobiles and international destinations. When you’re out of range of a Wi-Fi connection, the phone switches to the traditional mobile network.
