What to do with old computers
Aug 22 2007
Rather than throwing away your old computers and peripherals, one option is to donate them to a charity such as Oxfam. They can often sell any donated machines to raise funds in order to support their work.
Another option is to contact your local council or recycling organisation, which often run schemes to refurbish old computers to help those in need, the disabled, schools, voluntary organisations and the third-world countries.
One consideration should be the removal of any data that you store on the hard drives of any computers you dispose. Even if you think you have deleted everything from the disk, it’s worth getting expert advice, especially if the information is commercially sensitive or covered by the Data Protection Act.
