Lessons from the leaders

People starting or running their own business will get the opportunity to benefit from expert advice, through an ITV documentary where experienced entrepreneurs bid to help ailing businesses.
The series, In Good Company, enlists the guidance of some of the UK’s most successful business leaders to help four small businesses by offering practical advice and support on workplace strategies. The series is being sponsored by Investors In People, the national benchmark for training and development of people to achieve business goals.
Business leaders taking part include Adam Balon, founder of drinks company Innocent, Simon Woodroffe, founder of Yo! Sushi, Rupert Clevely, who created pub and restaurant chain Geronimo Inns, and Dylan Jones, editor of GQ magazine. They have been matched with the owners of small businesses who are experiencing a variety of workplace issues, from lack of clear role definition to long hours.
Each programme will include an insight into one of the four businesses before and after the mentors have been drafted in. Each business has also received guidance through an advisor from Investors in People.
“Working with the Investors in People standard can help any business, whatever its size or sector, learn from best practice in people management and gain more from employees in support of business goals,” commented Nicola Maine, director of marketing communications at Investors in People.
In Good Company will begin airing on 30 September 2004.
