Free expert advice on exporting

Aug 11 2003

Small firms looking to export their products can now take advantage of a free guide outlining the potential benefits of exporting products and services overseas.

The guide, produced by Bibby Factors International, advises owners and managers on how to finance an export strategy and where to go for help and advice, and is aiming to dispel ‘misplaced fears about the difficulties and expense of trading overseas.’

According to a recent survey from MORI, over half of owners and managers worry that they do not know enough about the export process, are unsure about whether their product would be competitive abroad and think that the cost of entry would be too high.

The guide aims to cover the following areas:

- Market research: how to identify and target key markets

- Distribution: how to sell your goods abroad

- Sales & Marketing: how to choose appropriate promotional tools

- Getting paid: tried and tested methods to ensure prompt payment

“Exporting is crucial to the local economy’s health – increased exports mean business growth, and this in turn, means more jobs. We have developed this guide in order to help growing businesses embrace the opportunities that exporting their goods and services can offer them,” explains Andrew Meadwell, sales & marketing director of Bibby Factors International.

According to Bibby, export factoring levels are up 12% on figures from 2002, presenting a good opportunity for UK businesses to take advantage of exporting.
