Training for staff is a great tool in the current economic climate as it empowers them and allows them to earn more, according to an expert.

Anjula Mutanda, a consultant psychologist and life coach, says it is important for employees to upskill as they can boost their income.

She adds training ensures staff do not feel they are helpless and unable to do anything about their situation, in addition it can add money to the salary.

'Learning a new skill could boost your annual income by two to three thousand pounds so there are loads of benefits to upskilling and taking up different kinds of courses,' she states.

In addition, Mutanda asserts it is 'always invigorating' to learn new skills and is a good way to combat the bad news in the economy lately.

Research from the Learning and Skills Council finds over three-quarters of new learners feel happier, more confident and more willing to take on other challenges after learning a new talent.
