More than ten million people dream of becoming their own boss but are put off by a fear of failure, reveals new research.
Findings from a survey by Business Link indicate that up to one in five are planning on making the leap from employee to entrepreneur over the course of the next year.
However, up to a third of respondents claim they are prevented from realising their dreams by fears of getting into debt or adding to existing money problems.
Rosemary French, from Business Link, says: 'Many people who wish to start their own company can be put off due to fear of failure or uncertainty about how to start.'
She adds that those looking to start their own business should take advantage of the 'wealth of free information, advice and support' available to help budding entrepreneurs.
Meanwhile, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants says the future of SMEs could be in danger due to new government proposals reports the Daily Telegraph.
