A new online guide to help small and medium-sized enterprises access growth funding has been unveiled.
Launched by the government, the No-Nonsense Guide to Finance for High-Growth and Innovative Businesses resource is designed to act as one-stop shop for small companies looking to receive funding.
The portal includes guidance on how to assess funding needs, where to find the right advice, the various financing options available and how to pitch to investors, while the information will be illustrated with business case studies.
Lord Drayson, minister for science and innovation, says: 'Supporting businesses to innovate and grow is especially important during the current downturn. It is these firms that will create the jobs, products and services of the future.'
He adds that the guide will help firms to assess a range of funding, such as grants to support development, tax credits for scientific and technological research or loan guarantees.
Earlier this month, the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts called on the government to support growth in the UK's high-tech industries, saying sectors such as healthcare, green technology and digital media should be the focus of investment.
