Some 72 per cent of women in work ensure that household bills are paid, according to a survey of 2,010 UK adults by Opinium Research for protection specialist Bright Grey.
Women are also more likely to raise discussions in the home concerning money, with 61 per cent taking the initiative.
The survey reveals that 46 per cent of females consider themselves the main earners in their family.
