Aug 20 2009
UK businesses expect market conditions to improve in the last quarter of what has been a desperate 2009, a new survey has found.
Nearly three quarters of the 464 respondents to the poll by Barclays Commercial Bank describe their attitude towards the economy as either ‘hopeful’ (57 per cent) or ‘excited’ (17 per cent).
The research reveals a confident stance towards recovery, with 15 per cent of respondents believing their company will move back into a sustained growth phase within the next six months and 28 per cent believing this will occur within six to 12 months. Additionally, 29 per cent claim their business continues to grow, while only 11 per cent state they were ‘worried’ by the general condition of the economy.
Ian Stuart, MD of Barclays Commercial Bank, comments: ‘There is a long way to go before we see a full economic recovery, but it is encouraging to see so many businesses displaying such a positive mindset.’
