SMEs are more concerned with broadband reliability than connection speed, according to new research.
Findings from UK Online have revealed that more businesses want broadband reliability along with good quality service and value for money.
Chris Stening, managing director of UK Online, says, 'Despite recent reports in the media, broadband speed isn't necessarily topping UK consumers' list of concerns.'
He adds that this was particularly true for business users, who have different priorities when it comes to their internet connection.
The survey revealed that 70 per cent of SMEs use the internet for communication purposes, while almost three quarters believe their business success is reliant on the internet.
The findings arrive at a time when broadband speed and provision is being debated.
The UK is thought to be falling behind compared with the speed of broadband available in other countries.
This is thought to be due to most of Britain's broadband access being delivered through existing copper telephone lines, which were never designed to deliver ultra-fast broadband.
