Small business hoping to have a more secure online presence don't need to break the bank, experts have claimed.

According to Get Safe Online, it is becoming simpler and more cost effective for small firms to protect themselves against internet fraud and viruses.

Tony Neate, managing director of Get Safe Online, says: 'As more and more people use the internet, and it is estimated that last year we spent on goods and services over £30bn in the UK, criminality is going to start creeping in there. What we need to do is make sure we take the simple easy steps to make sure these things don't happen to us.'

He continues: 'It does not have to cost a lot of money.'

Recent research by the firm reveals the extent of internet crime against small businesses, some 44 per cent of small firms have been victim of online fraud, with 36 per cent infected with a computer virus.
