Some small companies are beginning to place greater emphasis on data protection and recovery in a bid to ensure that they can restore any lost data.
That is according to a survey from technology research firm Aberdeen, which revealed that 82 per cent of the top companies have written data protection and recovery management policies in place, a much greater proportion than average companies (51 per cent) and those lagging behind the market (33 per cent).
'Data protection and recovery technologies have changed significantly in the past few years,' explains Avner Kedmi, research director of data management and storage at Aberdeen.
'Once comprised solely of backup applications and tape, today's data recovery processes are increasingly relying on evolving disk-based backup and restore technologies.'
Aberdeen is a leading supplier of technology market research and information, having benchmarked more than 30,000 companies around the world in the last two year to educate clients on the happenings of the market.
