It is essential to have a realistic, working business plan when you're starting up a business. Visit the Business Link London website, and read the section called Prepare a business plan as this will show you how to prepare a high quality plan using a number of easy-to-follow steps.

You can find examples of business plans at www.bplans.co.uk. You may also want to contact your Bank who may well have information, examples and templates of business plans.

There are lots of articles and link to information on writing business plans here on SmallBusiness.co.uk.

My advice would be to have a look at the examples that are mentioned here and also, keep an eye out over the next couple of weeks for the series of in depth guides in PDF format from SmallBusiness.co.uk that will soon be available to buy here.

One of them specifically focuses on business planning and offers a template plan and information on forecasting sales to point you in the right direction.
