Q: Is it reasonable to ask and expect a franchisor to provide a full list of their franchisees and contact details, and let you contact anyone on the list to hear about their experiences?

Yes, it is reasonable to expect this and if a franchisor does not willingly provide such a list, you may wonder why. From your perspective, you need to try to identify franchisees that have a similar background to you and who, ideally, are operating in a similar geographical area, so that you can draw some meaningful conclusions.
