Q: I’m a Dentist from the EEA (Lithuania) registered with the General Dental Council in the UK. Could I open a dental clinic in the UK without working for another clinic first? How shall I start? Where can I get information about this?

I would suggest getting in touch with the General Dental Council again, as they would be the best place to start for guidance on what regulatory framework you need to cover. Visit: www.gdc-uk.org

You can also visit the Business Link London website for a checklist of which regulations and licences apply to the healthcare and medical sector in the UK. Click here for more information.

Once you have the legal side of setting up a clinic covered, make sure that you seek expert advice about the general issues surrounding starting a business to ensure you have the best possible start. To go to the Business Start-Up Organiser on the Business Link London website, click here.
