Business Link launches 'My Business' service

Government service Business Link has launched ‘My Business’, giving small to medium-sized enterprises access to a wide range of services and advice tailored to their company’s needs.

The move follows strong criticism by the Forum of Private Business (FPB) last year aimed at the DTI’s Small Business Service, claiming it had overly complex procedures. ‘Our members need real representation at the highest levels, not what is, essentially, a cumbersome compromise,’ said the FPB.

'My Business' aims to allow businesses to complete secure online transactions, such as paying VAT and corporation tax, filing PAYE returns and applying for an export licence through a single online portal.

Businesslink.gov.uk will store customer data enabling businesses to save time on administration so that users do not need to re-enter information about themselves or their business when using affiliated Government websites. Registered users can personalise their account through email alerts and updates.

Jonathan Hollow, at busineslink.gov.uk comments: ‘The service will support businesses through all phases of their growth, from planning to launch, selling or diversifying.’
