A new initiative aims to double the number of female angel investors in the UK.

Angels Lounge, which has been formed by investment network Angels Den and wealth management firm Addidi, intends to increase the percentage of female investors from 7 to 15 per cent by 2015.

Sally Goodsell, CEO of Finance South East, says: ‘In my experience female business angels offer new perspectives on investing in businesses that differ from men. Women's preferences, motivations and investment activities offer innovative new ways of financing.

'As it stands, women’s businesses are funded with a third less capital than their male counterparts, and increasing the number of female business angels is likely to have a positive effect on the flow of finance to women entrepreneurs.’
