Online retailers are gearing up for a record-breaking day of internet sales.

According to e-retail body IMRG, Monday 7 December will be the busiest online shopping day of the year, with an expected spend of £350 million.

David Smith, director of operations at IMRG, says: ‘Online retail has consistently delivered double digit growth throughout 2009 as consumers switch to the convenience and price savings available on the internet.’

According to e-DigitalResearch, 93 per cent of consumers were planning to shop online for Christmas presents this year, with nearly three-quarters of them doing at least half of their total shopping online.
