More small business owners are suffering from sleepless nights and a strain on their home lives as a result of the economic crisis.
According to a new survey from Close Invoice Finance (CIF), seven in ten owner-managers are significantly more stressed, with 43 per cent reporting a direct impact on their home lives and 44 per cent saying they are experiencing sleeplessness as a result of the recession.
David Thomson, chief executive of CIF, says: ‘We continue to discuss the economic crisis in macro terms, ignoring the strain that managing a business through a downturn places on your personal life.’
Of the 500 owner-managers surveyed, 30 per cent say the economic crisis is creating problems in their personal relationships, compared to 13 per cent in 2008.
According to a survey from stationery company Euroffice.co.uk, nearly half (48 per cent) of bosses intend to contact the office while on holiday this summer.
