Q: What rights does an off-licence employee have to ask for proof of age?

As it is illegal to sell alcohol to under 18s, you have a legal obligation to take steps not to do so. To quote the trading standards website “Always ask young people to produce proof of their age.” For information on age restricted products and how to deal with them, go to:
