Staff continue to work long hours and rarely claim for overtime.
Some 72 per cent believe that they stay longer than their basic hours require, according to a report from staff well-being company Water Wellpoint.
Rory Murphy, head of external affairs at Water Wellpoint, says: ‘Our survey shows that binge working is ingrained in today's work culture. In fact, working late now seems to be standard practice, with nearly a third of workers staying after hours twice a week and 27 per cent working overtime every day.’
Adds Murphy: ‘This might be good news for UK plc in these straitened times, but it needs to be tempered with ensuring the on-going health and wellbeing of workers.’
Of the 152 workers surveyed, 84 per cent said they never claim overtime for extra hours.
A recent study from recruitment company HireScores.com, found that one in four workers rarely take a lunch break, while 23 per cent seldom take their full break.
