People who are married, own their own homes and live in the South East have a higher chance of returning to work after being made redundant than those who are single, rent council houses and live in Scotland.
According to an article from the Office for National Statistics, marital status, home ownership and location are all factors that boost chances of re-employment.
The research also found that having an A-Level improved re-employment prospects by 22 per cent, while having a degree improved them by 27 per cent. Living in council-rented accommodation was said to lower the probability of returning to work by 32 per cent.
According to the British Chambers of Commerce unemployment will peak at 3.2 million in the third quarter of 2010. The current figure is 2.44 million.
