Stress disrupts female work/life balance

Oct 30 2009

A large proportion of women say they can’t achieve a work life balance due to stress at work.

Some 40 per cent of women who earn in excess of £40,000 feel unable to achieve a work/life balance, according to new findings by talent development agency Morgan Redwood.

Janice Haddon, managing director of Morgan Redwood, says:  ‘With the economic climate as it is, many companies are looking to save money; one way of doing this is obviously to add to the workload of their staff. However, by doing this, it is having a major knock-on effect. Pressure from work is increasing, meaning stress levels are getting higher.’

Of the 237 women interviewed, 39 per cent said they constantly felt anxious, while two-fifths with children reported a loss in confidence upon return to work after pregnancy.

National Stress Awareness Day is on 4 November. For more information visit the International Stress Management Association UK’s website.
