Q: My old PC’s served me well but now my business is growing and I’m using more software it’s getting much slower. Will I have to buy a new one?

The short answer is yes, you’ll have to buy a new one. But if that’s difficult for you there are other ways round the problem.

Ask yourself whether all the software you’re running on your machine is absolutely necessary. For example, if you’re using email software, switching to webmail would reduce the load on your PC. If you’re running a customer database application, you could consider a hosted service managed through the internet, which would mean you wouldn’t then have to have the software on your machine. The drawback of that is, of course, that you’d need to be online nearly all of the time, so you’ll need to decide whether that works for you.
