Inability to edit docs 'a disadvantage for iPhone'

The fact that it is not possible to edit documents on the iPhone gives it a 'massive' disadvantage compared to its business rival, according to a technical expert.
Andrew Lim, mobile phones editor for technology website CNET, explains that the iPhone is targeted at leisure rather than business customers.
He comments that the ability to edit Microsoft documents in programmes such as Word and Excel gives the BlackBerry an advantage over the iPhone for business users.
'It's a 'need to have' feature especially if you are on the go and you need to change a file that someone has sent you by email,' he remarks.
Lim describes this as a 'massive, massive issue' separating the two smartphones.
Having a keyboard as opposed to a touch screen is also an advantage for ease of use when writing long emails or documents, he adds.
Figures from technology research company Gartner show 32.2 million smartphone units were sold in the second quarter of 2008, an increase of 15.7 per cent on the same period in 2007.
