Unique content improves search engine rankings, expert says

Aug 28 2008

Having unique and frequently-updated content on a company website will improve a firm's ranking on Google and therefore make it more accessible to consumers, an internet expert says.

Such information will also encourage visitors to stay on a business's website for longer and encourage them to visit it more often, Chris Lake, editor in chief of e-consultancy.com, claims.

He advises companies to put more imagination into their websites and to consider adding information such as blogs to make unique and relevant content.

Lake adds that the internet influences which products consumers choose to purchase and where from.

He recommends making the most of all available marketing channels to drive sales both on and offline.

Over the last year more than one million extra households have installed internet access into their homes, bringing the total to 16 million - 65 per cent of the country, according to figures from the Office for National Statistics.
