Technology key to home run business

Aug 13 2007

Technology is essential for small businesses, especially if they are being run from the home, StartupCo claim.

According to the group, a good level of communication is vital to the success of small business and this can be achieved with the aid of cutting edge technology.

John D'Groot, director of the StartupCo says: 'For many businesses [technology] is absolutely vital in terms of communicating with other people in the business but also to communicate with people outside the business, like customers and suppliers.'

The use of technology can also have a positive effect on the environment due to the reduced necessity to travel as Mr D'Groot suggests: 'You don't have the problem of people spending lots of time travelling to and from work. Modern technology allows you to work as a team … without leaving home.'

The Office for National Statistics claims that small to medium sized enterprises account for more than 58 per cent of employment in the UK.
