Small businesses should consider network solutions

Aug 03 2007

Smaller firms should consider implementing new technologies to help create a more flexible, efficient and effective company, says a leading IT services expert.

Using mobile networking solutions, many larger UK firms now offer more flexible working options, with such practices seen as an excellent way to boost productivity of staff members and keep morale high.

However, as mobile internet technology becomes more common and more easily available, Brett Marino of IT service company Small Business Computing suggests that flexible networking schemes are increasingly within the reach of smaller firms.

'There are a number of solutions available that allow for flexible working depending on how your office network is set-up,' says Mr Marino.

'The latest craze amongst small businesses is complete hosted networks: this provides organisations with remote connections to hosted servers, giving them all the functionality and flexibility of large corporates without the huge cost or continued overhead.

'Blackberrys and similar mobile devices have long been the lifeblood of corporate world, but in the past few years have become a common sight amongst small businesses.'
