Q: I have an idea for a new product which can be consumed. Is there any way I can experiment with ingredients and flavours cheaply? The ingredients I need cannot be purchased from normal shops, they have to be purchased from chemical companies, who will only sell in bulk. At the stage I am at I only need samples as I am still experimenting and researching my idea.

I have spoken to the Food Additives and Ingredients Association. It says that if you really can’t buy the flavours you need from a supermarket, the only way you will be able to get samples from a chemical company will be if you can convince them that they are going to get significant business from you. So you will probably need to tell them more about your product and most importantly be able to show them some sort of business plan, so that they can see that you are serious.
