Q: I would love to set up a business as a retailer of trading cards, comics, phonecards and other collecting items. Do you have any information regarding wholesalers of these items?

I’ve drawn a bit of a blank on wholesalers but wonder if there are other ways to build up stock of these items. For example, with comics there are many comic fairs and traders go to these to buy and sell comics. You would certainly be able to build up a stock of comics doing this.

With phone cards, it is possible to set up as a phonecard agent/retailer for BT phonecards and you can select what value cards you wish to sell. Obviously, there are fewer of the rarer, higher value cards. Again you can buy phonecards at fairs, through magazines and from other collectors. The British Telecom Phonecard Collectors Club (0845-7697721) might be able to help. Or try Thomson Business Directory under Telephone card dealers.
