Q: I am employed by a major company in the service industry and would like to set up a company to sub-contract work from my employers, while remaining in employment. Is this possible to do?

Without seeing your contracts of employment, it would be difficult to advise you on this. However, from a commercial point of view, it’s really a question of what you can negotiate with your employers. They may take a dim view of your idea. Certainly I think you should discuss it with them first before you spend any more time and money. If they think that it is acceptable, you will need to ask your solicitor to sort out the legal end of things.
