Q: I want to open a gallery/coffee shop. What advice would you give for the first steps?

Do your research, see what other restaurants there are in your area and make sure you choose a location with a good footfall.

Location is the most important thing to look for when opening up a restaurant. You will also need to go through the figures very carefully. Think about your reasons for wanting to set up a gallery café. Is it because it’s a good business proposition or because it’s a dream for you. Dreams can fast become nightmares if you don’t take a good hard nosed look at your proposal. Any form of catering can be very hard work and often with very little reward, so be very careful.

I aggree with the points given. Your USP ( unique selling point) once established will then help you to establish your brand, identity and look to your customers. Do your research though as this really is fundamental to your success. Nothing wrong with dreams, just keep your feed well grounded and your eyes and ears pealed so that you respond to what your potential customers need and want. further help and info available from http://www.bloomingbusiness.co.uk
