Entrepreneurial spirit still strong in the UK

Jul 29 2008

Undeterred by the threat of economic slowdown, a large number of UK entrepreneurs are keen to start their own businesses.

According to a study published by BT Business, 45 per cent of the 1,003 surveyed believe the risk element is not an obstacle.

A further two-thirds (60 per cent) feel confident they have the knowledge to go it alone. Bill Murphy, managing director of BT Business, says: ‘Even in the current economic situation lots of people are relishing the challenge of starting their own enterprise.’

The survey also revealed that only one in ten (10.4 per cent) said money is the most important issue in starting a business, with over half (52 per cent) expressing knowledge of the market as the most important factor for success.
