Queen’s Awards for SMEs

Oct 04 2006

Small businesses have until midnight on 31 October 2006 to nominate themselves for the 2007 Queen's Awards for Enterprise, to gain recognition for achievements in international trade, innovation and sustainable development.

The prestigious Queen's Awards for Enterprise are open to UK-based firms with two or more full-time employees and there is no limit on the number of awards given each year. Almost 5,000 have been awarded since their inception in 1965.

There are three categories: namely, international trade, innovation and sustainable development; and a fourth, for individuals, the Queen's Award for Enterprise Promotion. This is for ‘outstanding individuals who inspire and encourage budding entrepreneurs’.

Candidates for the latter must be nominated by others and up to ten awards are granted each year, plus one lifetime achievement award, if a suitable candidate is nominated.
Winners of the Queen’s Awards receive significant publicity and can benefit from boosted staff morale and sales figures.

For more details or to nominate someone for The Queen's Award for Enterprise Promotion, visit www.queensawards.org.uk or call 08705-134486. Winners are announced on 21 April, the Queen's birthday. Don’t forget to send her a card.
