Politicians less trusted than estate agents
Apr 09 2010
Despite their overtures to small businesses as being ‘the backbone of the UK’ politicians are seen as the least trusted of professionals.
Some 68 per cent of respondents said politicians were completely untrustworthy, followed only by estate agents and plumbers, according to a poll of 1,231 people from retail site Offerssupermarket.co.uk.
Eve Atkins, founder of Offers Supermarket, says: ‘[It is] always hard to win trust and very easy to lose it so I am not shocked that politicians are considered to be untrustworthy [given their recent] antics.’
Failure to answer questions directly was the main reason for not being trusted, according to 54 per cent of the respondents.
