Q: What is the UK minimum wage for adults?

From the 1st October 2006 the National Minimum Wage Rates will be: • Adult rate £5.35 per hour; • Age-related rate (18-21) £4.45 per hour; and • Over compulsory school age but under 18, £3.30 per hour (Apprentices in their first year are not covered by National Minimum Wage). It will still be lawful to operate these age band rates after 1st October 2006.
