Q: If we claim for tax relief for working from home, when we come to sell the property will we be taxed on the profit we make from the house sale?

If a gain arises on the disposal of a persons home, then if part of it was used exclusively for business purposes, the gain is apportioned.

That part used for business would be taxable. A room used partly for business and partly for residential purposes does not require this apportionment.

However, most people claiming tax relief for working from home, tend not to have quite such a totally exclusive part set aside in this way and should not need to pay capital gains tax on the sale of their own home.
