Q: How can I get in touch with business angels or potential investors with regards to expanding and being involved with my business? Are there any other options?

Business angels and investors in small businesses are usually private individuals. As such a suitable investor can be hard to find as it is important that you meet their requirements and more importantly that they meet yours!

You will need to consider what involvement you will allow your potential investor to have and what level of control and shareholding they will receive for their investment. Any investor will also need to know what exit opportunities they have. Brokers exist that match potential investors with suitable business opportunities which can save a lot of time but will incur cost.

You should ensure that you have explored all options open to you to borrow money from reputable sources. Debt is usually a better option than giving away equity and it may be that there is a suitable source of finance available to you.
