Design support for London's small business

Mar 18 2008

The London Development Agency (LDA) has announced a £3.5 million design support programme for London's small businesses.

Designing Demand is a national support service which will offer complementary design services for firms in the capital to help business performance.

According to the Design Council Designing Demand will show entrepreneurs will be shown how good design can lead to bigger profits and make a business 'stand out from the rest'.

Chief executive of the LDA Manny Lewis says that despite the high density of design in London, investment in design among small firms is 'surprisingly low' but the new scheme will 'ensure businesses across the capital benefit from intelligent investment in design'.

It offers workshops explaining how design investment can help businesses and supports high-tech businesses to use design to attract investment, refine strategy and reduce risk.

Design London was established by the Royal College of Art and Imperial College London and will create new teaching programmes, incubating new business ideas and conduct research and generate innovation technology.
