Small firms set to leave Royal Mail
Oct 17 2007
A number of small businesses are ready to embrace a new mail carrier following the latest round of strikes by the Royal Mail, new research has revealed.
According to a survey by the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), 55 per cent of SMEs are ready to switch to private delivery companies.
Commenting on the findings, Natalie Evans, BCC head of policy, says: 'This result really hammers home the damage that the dispute has done to Royal Mail.
'Small businesses rely on a decent postal service and have been let down badly over the past few weeks. It will not be easy for Royal Mail to regain their confidence.'
She adds: 'The only way it will win back lost business is through pushing ahead with its modernisation, providing the efficient, value for money and reliable service that firms demand.'
The survey also showed that 88 per cent of small companies reported that the strike had a significant impact on their business.
