Female entrepreneurs who trade overseas have the opportunity to have their achievements recognised in the 2004 BEXA – Women in Business Achievement Award.

The awards, sponsored by Government support agency UK Trade & Investment, the British Exporters Association and not-for-profit initiative Women in Business, aim to recognise and celebrate the importance and success of women’s export achievements in all sectors of international trade.

Judges will consider any businesswoman who can demonstrate success in international markets and an “ongoing commitment to international trade relations”.

Last year, the award went to Michelle Wienberg for her work in the “male-dominated markets in [the] male-dominated sectors” of oil and gas and engineering.

Sir Stephen Brown, Chief Executive, UK Trade & Investment said, "Trading in international markets makes a huge contribution to the UK’s national wealth. Women play an increasingly key part in that success. Businesses that trade internationally tend to be more competitive and productive than those that don’t. I encourage businesswomen from all sectors of the economy who are doing business internationally to enter this prestigious award."
