Trade confidence could be on the rise
Businesses feel the year ahead could be a prosperous one, research finds.
The Travelex Confidence Index, which tracks the sentiments of the UK’s SME importers and exporters across industry sectors, rose eight points during November to 112, the highest for eight months.
Some 70 per cent of importers and exporters say they feel confident about current trade conditions, with 85 per cent sure that UK economic growth will be sustained, a rise of 19 per cent from the previous month.
David Sear, global managing director at Travelex Global Business Payments, says: ‘Confidence in the trade sector is pivotal to the UK’s economic outlook. We urge the government to continue their vital trade overseas missions and support for exporting businesses through innovation and resource, to ensure that growth in the UK export sector is not jeopardised in 2011.’
