SMEs to ‘market way out of recession’
Aug 13 2009
Many small businesses will increase their marketing budgets over the next 12 months, says a new survey by YouGov and printing company HP.
The survey of nearly 1,000 small business owners found that 38 per cent plan to invest more in marketing.
Beth de Avila, brand manager at HP, says: ‘These results highlight how SMB owners are not panicking in their attitudes to marketing and are budgeting for the long term as well as the short. Previous recessions have shown that those businesses that market themselves well during fallow periods are significantly better positioned when the good times return.’
In a poll by SmallBusiness.co.uk, 23 per cent of respondents said if they were given an extra £10,000 they would spend it on marketing.

Saturday 22nd August 2009I would have thought businesses would be focusing on more creative marketing, rather just increasing budgets
