Q: Our business has taken over the lease on a premises previously used by another company. How can we ensure that our company is found when searched for online and by service providers? Is there anywhere we can officially register the address and business?

There are a number of things to do. Firstly contact Royal Mail to ensure your mail is re-directed to your new address. Secondly, write to all your customers - initially to advise them of the move date and then again to tell them you have moved. This not only ensures business continuity but also gives you the opportunity to reinforce your service offer and promote any new products and services. Thirdly, make sure all of your collateral such as stationery, brochures and forms are reprinted to reflect your change of address and contact details. You will also need to amend your website and any e-mail formats accordingly.

In terms of your online presence, this should not be impacted by your move to new premises, as I assume your web address will remain the same.

When it comes to online stuff, just ensure that you have a good "About Us" page that clearly shows all your contact details including FULL Postal address.
