Guide to renting property

May 01 2002

A code of practice released last week aims to help small businesses deal with the "significant and complex undertaking" of commercial property leasing.

A code of practice for commercial leases in England and Wales has been produced by the Commercial Leases Working Group, which includes the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Small Business Bureau amongst its constituent members. It consists of 23 recommendations for landlords and tenants when negotiating new leases of business premises and during the term of the lease.

An additional information leaflet called Thinking of Renting a business Property? is also available, summarising essential details of property leasing.

Both are available to download free from www.commercialleasecodeew.co.uk or by calling 020-7695 1535.
