Business owners won't switch off over Christmas

Many business owners don't feel able to relax and celebrate the festive season
A survey of 160 UK business owners finds that one third will work on Christmas or Boxing Day this year.
The study, conducted by business information website FreeIndex.co.uk, suggests that many business owners do not feel able to relax and celebrate the festive season with their friends and families.
Martin Turner, managing director of FreeIndex, says that small business owners are ‘feeling the squeeze’ and are working additional hours to ‘keep their heads above water’.
Adds Turner, ‘As an aside to work pressures, the ease with which remote working allows us to access the office from home means the temptation to answer work phone calls or emails during the Christmas period is greatly increased.’
Business owners are risking burnout by continuing to work over the festive period, Turner concludes.
