Q: A supplier is threatening legal action for a collection fee added to our account. Do I pay or fight?

Answered by: Marc Barber     Ask a question

As ever, in situations like this the question of pay or fight is a question of how much time and resources you want to spend. Check the terms and conditions of your trade with the supplier (often the small print on the back of an invoice). More often than not, they will contain the right for added collection fees and it is this that your supplier will be relying upon. The best advice is to engage in dialogue with them pointing out any errors and try to seek an equitable solution.
